Women's rights

keep the quill pen
it was the time before
woman had tattoes
a time before we voted
keep the pen
we have kept all the diaries
even though we no longer journal
rather we put the ink to our skin
and let many people read
and watch how they interpret
and we still wonder
do they know we are valid
and who are they anyway
They had the quill and sold the ink
now we do not need them
we keep the relics
framed in our museums
and very tastefully
write about those days before
the letters set us free
now we are sleeved in alphabets
of written valid wonder
we scream freedom to our daughters who come after us
