You Could Be Dead

It could be worse.

Past tense; what a cruel joke.

Made only for remembering

Its enough to provoke a rough awakening from anyone.

Always then and was and has been

How could anyone live with such annoying words as these?

And yet I look for it again,as most do, hoping to gain its cool uncaring

It is my own fault

But thats hardly a comforting truth,

That I managed this assault on my own soul.



I saw a sign today

It read, "You could be dead, you know."
