Another birthday by herself |
| She sat upon the porch out back, enjoyed the summer light. She knitted just to pass the time, until the dark of night. Her feeble hands were wrinkle wrought yet gripped the needles well. The wares she made were beautiful, but she would never sell. Another birthday by herself yet she was not alone. The birds would flock and come around as if they were her own. Some yarn was left in tiny bits, then placed on barren ground. Excitement from the trees was heard, a sweet and pleasant sound. That day she lost the breath of life, was quickly laid to rest. The love she shared is still nearby and found in every nest. Rhyme scheme abcb syllables 8/6/8/6 20 lines |
