Beats in the Darkness

A short poem about a day spent in the dark with a lover.

And it was not but our heart beats that night,
In the dark.
Together we were,
Even though we wanted out,
We stayed,
Because we heard each others hearts,
And together they will beat,
Forever and ever.
With nothing to stop our love,
No hate,
No rain,
No pain,
Only this feeling,
So deep within our souls,
To hold and breath,
Wrapped in this warm darkness,
With no dawn,
And no dusk,
What day have we?
But only today.
