A poem about how an adult son feels about his father. |
| Son to Father When you have harrowed what I’ve ploughed, you will have made your old Dad proud. When you achieve what I have done, I’ll be pleased to call you son. Dad, you have said this all my life. You still do it now that I have a wife. I never did produce an heir. The ancestral line is stopped right there. You wanted a son just like you, an impossible task for me to do. You have set an unreachable goal. To live your life is not my role. I have travelled along my own road and sometimes carried a heavy load. I live my life the best I can and try to be a decent man. |
