A Pledge to My Nephew

My Nephew turned one year old and as a first time aunt I wrote out my promises to him.

A Pledge to my Nephew

Though it may not seem like it just yet
Having an Aunt comes in handy quite a bit
So on your first birthday I make you this pledge
And though it may not right now, one day it’ll make sense
I promise you, nephew, to always be cool
You will never be embarrassed if I pick you up from school
I’ll let you let you act your age and listen to the music you like
And when you come to visit me I’ll let you stay up all night
I will never forget what it was like to be in tenth grade
So one day when you have a problem you’ll know I can relate
I promise you I will never judge and my experience I’ll never flaunt
I will just give you the advice that will help get you what you want
Happy First Birthday Matthew and though the time may not be near
