Harvey's Hill

Maggie saw it first -
the dented Ford with
broken springs-
as it crept along
the switchbacks
on its way up Harvey’s Hill.

But Tommy beat her
down the path and over
Cripple Creek
to greet the truck
and hug the man
who came to Harvey’s Hill.

They thought he’d stay then,
but he packed up all
their treasures
and at dawn they left
the house where
no one lives on Harvey’s Hill.
