departure's upload

my daddy's back in morning, but my mamma's gonna be sadder longer because i be going also

daddy has the camera
to capture things from denver that we won't be there for,
and yet we have the smoky sky
that will produce once-in-a-lifetime sunsets,
without a way to photograph it -

yesterday on a memorable goodbye bike ride before the trip
we rose up the hill enough to see half of it
sliced over the horizon of houses,
but further where it was clear we missed the picture,

and, now he's the daystar,
right there on the phone
& yet i can't flash-film it
with the lens of my eyes
