A Shakespearean sonnet about precious memories of a youthful romance. |
The day when I was young and unafraid, Now lingers half-obscured within my mind; The disconcerting whispers of a Shade, Remind me of what I could never find. The night when I was young and loved you so, Is mirrored in the ripples of my past. A lump within my throat that will not go, Reminds me of a dream that would not last. The day when I was young and held your hand-- So tender and so warm that summer's eve-- Invites me to relive a night so grand, I prayed the Fates would never make us leave. And even though your gone, my mind shall tread-- Upon our dreams and tender words you said. |
