Following an unexpectedly long wait to take the stage at one of my favored open mics.

Voluntary Practice

(they were taping a public access first)
Nowhere to hide in Grandma's Basement,
I'm not sure about my opener.

I had to break up with my girlfriend...
too weak, won't open. 3 hours to improve it.
spied the list, put me down, my name by number
33 did three

minutes in front of 8 comics who were themselves half
asleep, just my infant of a joke We were birthing a cow at 3am (hope
I can start getting more to the point like this).
