A rhyming poem about an Amazon woman who hunts and is the pride of the village. |
| Where natives dance and wrestle low, The Amazon jungle, deep and wild – There lived a tomboy of slender build, Whose hair and clothing were deftly styled… This sporty lady with dark brown skin, And eyes as black as deepest space, Could wield a spear with deadly force, And devour meat with a grimy face. This chick was one with all the males, The chiefs and hunters glistened with pride. Everyone welcomed her toughness, skill, And wished to battle by her side. A rugged youth, she fought quite bravely, But men thought her a bit too rough – When she played, the guys got bruised, Shying away when they’d had enough… The jungle such a vibrant place, Creatures living in shrouded gloom, No time to wallow or delve in self-pity, A relaxing nod can seal one’s doom! |
