I walked out the door
Determined to go--
To face the whole world
No one could say no.
With a stiff upper lip
And my shoulders held back
I drove quickly across
Those dreadful train tracks.
Life's storms built up quickly
And how should I know
The world could be cruel
And my pain, it would show.
The winds ripped at my soul.
The rain drowned my heart.
How quickly my life
Completely fell apart.
I crawled back home
On my hands and my knees.
Battered and broken
A shattered new me.
