| As I lay me down to sleep Eternal peace I long to keep And if I die before I wake I thank God, for life's own sake. The night is my friend Erupting in silence I hear my name whispered Through thundering violence. My head is held high And my heart is still guarded But my eyes have been downcast Since the day that I started. My lips turn upward And my eyes begin to glisten When I put on my mask Because nobody listens. I try to leave hints To see if they care, But no one sees through The mask that I wear. Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep And if I die before I wake... |
