This is a poem about saying goodbye. |
| An old man stood alone on the side of the road Looking down at his heart In the palm of his soul Time numbed a body froze Alone on the side of the road He puzzled over the cracks on the map That changed his direction and ripped him back The day was warm but he stood cold Alone on his empty road From behind the old man A familiar hand took his in its grasp He lifted his head And through all of the pain simultaneously, He laughed As tears welled up He knew her touch He turned to a face he'd missed so much And in her eyes he realized She had never left his side |
