Canst no one top Will Shakespeare?
The quintessential writer
After his quincentenary
Perchance another would shine brighter

Canst no one top Will Shakespeare?
With all his Thees and Thous
Entertaining an audience of epochs, eras
Both the lowly and high brows


Canst no one top Will Shakespeare?
The reasoning renaissance man
Predating the 'enlightenment'
When even common sense began

Canst no one top Will Shakespeare?
Inconceivable to attest
Tolkein? Twain? Tolstoy?
Princess Brides' Sicilian lisped it best

Surely someone can top Will Shakespeare?
Aye, methinks thou know 'im
I just proved it to thine eyes
With this totally awesome poem
