A poem about the joy we may experience following Jesus. |
| There is so much joy to be felt, So much contentment to experience. All of Your promises are true, Just waiting to be claimed. You invite us to partake, But in our own stubbornness, we rebel You continue to pursue us, nonetheless. We experience pain and loss, anxiety and fear You offer us relief and refuge, comfort and strength. We go about our day, minding our business So totally absorbed in the temporal, the superficial Feeding our flesh, entertaining ourselves But there is no satisfaction, just more emptiness. We seem to dig ourselves deeper, We overwhelm ourselves, we become inundated Finally out of desparation, we cry out In our own selfmade brokenness You are still right beside us, To caress our weariness, to soothe us To lighten our load, to carry our burden To save us from ourselves, our own worst enemy Maybe now we will finally get it, To go to the Well of Living Water, To go to the Source of All Life, The Source of All Creation and Power The Great Healer and Physician |
