A poem I wrote for a childhood best friend on her Birthday

Thank you for being a friend....
For your strength & backbone, that was needed
when mine was depleted.
Thank you for being a friend...
For being a mother,
when there was no other.
Thank you for being a friend....
For being there
when I walked away.
Thank you for being a friend...
For taking me to places
I would never had gone.
Thank you for being a friend.....
Noticing the things I left in your path
Listening in your special way.
Thank you for being a friend...
With your smile and laugh
a memory of the past.

Thank you for being my friend.
