After the light went out |
| Word count 161 Whispers As soon as the light went out, the whispering started. At first I thought I was hearing things, but no…I wasn’t. I turned the light back on and looked everywhere, under the bed, in the closet, everywhere. I didn’t find a thing. Satisfied it was all in my mind, I fluffed up my pillow and climbed back in bed, turning out the light as I did so. Tomorrow was a big day for me at work. It was payroll time and I needed to be well rested and able to keep my mind on my work. Immediately the voices came again, whispering. There was more than one, 8 or 9 perhaps. One was even in my ear. I pulled my pillow over my head. Still the voices were there. I scooted down deep into my covers and tucked them all around me. Still the voices were there. They kept whispering, taunting me, whispering ‘Johnny, go to sleep’. |
