poem: in the darkness

poem i wrote. please review :P

Darkness is near
Darkness is always neat
It sits beside me when I eat
It hovers above me when I eat
It drifts alongside me when I walk
It is there when I run, drink, pleasure, hate, and despair

It threatens to overtake me
Threatens to devour my soul
My dark thoughts, my evil actions
My doubts
All these attract the darkness

It calls to me
Calls for me to surrender
To end it
To make peace within my soul

But the darkness lies
There is no peace in surrender

Where the darkness is, there is only pain, suffereing, hurt and evil

I will not succumb
I will master the darkness
Defy all who threaten to take me down

I will defy
Reject
Dispose
Cast aside

All who threaten to place the darkness inside my soul

The darkness does not control

But I defy the darkness
