Reality of Nightmares

Originally started out as an alphabet poem for creative writing class, turned into poetry.

Total secrecy. Disguise yourself with
a mask to shield your identity
keeping secrets from the world

Never to reveal yourself
Never to let anyone close

Rehearsing your façade; blaming
yourself for the situations you
seem to get sucked into

Behind it all, wishing for a place
    where no one can pull you away
    and wake you to a reality of nightmares

    Faking the person you portray outside;
    Shuddering with you are inside
    The reality is simple; you crave to be
    somebody besides you.

    Your fake face is always there.
    Happy to forget your own identity
        Letting yourself go.
