Sonnet for the fishin' Inspira-shin' poetry contest. About parenting hardships and joys. |
| For Afternoons Like These Whenever life should press upon me so That all I see is what I have to give, So that my dreams and vision only show Their lacking in the life I chose to live, Then do I sigh a breath, a wish for wings To sail me out of taxes, bills, and debt, That I had been a fool for all these things Would almost force an action to beset, But then I pause, for on this table here I see a bowl of fruit loops all askew, The sight of everything that I hold dear, A mess of tiny footwear keeps me true. My children! Oh, my loves! Let life enthrall- For afternoons like these I'd give it all. Basic Sonnet: abab, cdcd, efef, gg |
