I Promise

Poem about a promise

A promise I made to her
“I’ll always be there for you”
I clearly hear
Echoing in my head everyday
And everyday she pushes me farther and farther away
I see her hide it
Her tears and her screams
Silently hurting
I offer my hand
Asking “what’s wrong?”
And every time
I try to catch her
She pushes me down and walks away
But I have no one to catch me
No one to see my pain
No one to say a word to me
Not even as simple as “Hi”
But what happens when I fall?
Will someone catch me,
Or will I just keep falling,
Never to be caught
“I’ll always be there for you”
I clearly hear
Echoing in my head
It doesn’t matter anymore
I’m falling while she is high up
Soaring above the clouds
And I’m happy.
