A short story for a contest...Practice writing short stories |
| You're walking along the beach, you find: a town/house made from a seashell/seashells Commemorating a time when I felt my soul forever lost, I recall searching for a remedy mind ease. In an act of spontaneous decisiveness, I determined I should take a stroll around the local island and seek repose. Since it was such a scrumptious spring day, the thought fathomed like a marvelous idea and I proceeded on my envisions of healing. As I walked along the path overlooking the beach, I eyed a mysterious shaded area to the right of the shore line and I decided to investigate. Once I arrive in the area I witnessed the most unusual visual modality. Off in the distance, appears a small community of little houses made of shells and other ocean fragments. This little community sparked my pursuit of intellectual capacity of the unknown, which, incited me to bestow a closer look. Much to my bemusement, I heard a faint voice as I moved closer. I centered my focus on one particular townhouse of shells. The faint voice was coming from within the dwelling. I heard the voice again, “Come closer my friend…. I won’t bite.” I walked closer to the little townhouse and bent down to grasp the source of the little voice. Lo and behold , in the doorway of little sticks and shells was a fairy hovering in the doorway. She says to me, “what’s the matter never seen freaking fairy before?” I answered in awe, “uh, nope” The fairy abruptly flies playfully around the top of my head singing “I wear seashells, she wears seashells, everybody wears seashells, who wears seashells??” I could not help but to laugh out loud at the fairy’s sense of humor. After growing a little exasperated with the fairy flying around my head, I offer my hand as a landing place and the little fairy plummets into my hand and begins to dance vibrantly and sing at the top of her lungs to a familiar Led Zeppelin tune. I listened to the rhythmic voice of the fairy as the words flowed and joined in….. “Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar Play for free, play for me and play a whole lot more, more! Singing about good things and the sun that lights the day I used to sing on the mountains, has the ocean lost it's way.” It seems as if a wave of uncontrolled movement came about my feet and I began to dance with the fairy in hand. We rocked the Island with our felicitous yearning to entertain ourselves. Hence, the thought came to mind and I recited to the little rock and roll fairy a quote from an AC/DC song… “rock and roll ain’t no riddle man, to me it makes, good, good sense“… and the fairy finished the quote with an amen of …“good sense!!” After the our little jam session, we had a more serious conversation about meaning of life and the special purpose of the fairy community. She ensues in explanation, “ this is a special fairy community build by human love and strength. The humans, who build these townhouses are afforded with their own special fairy.” I respond in wonderment, “oh, and what is the purpose of a personalized fairy?” The little fairy answers quickly and excitably, “ the purpose is to teach love among the forces of nature” “meaning… all things of the earth equal love, lest not forget” The fairy terra firma is the keeper of lost souls, a place for the bewildered to fortify their confounded souls. The mere building of a fairy townhouse is the embracement of one’s soul. The soul is then healed by mystical fairy powers and returned to the human body. Your townhouse fairy is your guardian and healer. The obligation of the fairy townhouse owner is simple: stay true to nature, love thy self, be good to others, believe, maintain your fairy house, because it is respective of your soul. Last but not least, “spread the love…don’t forget to sing and dance and yell rock and roll lyrical with your fairy…you may also institute the art bestowing cool presents!” |
