Hurt

I recently went through a break-up and I wrote this.

One soft word
brought her down
making her forget everything
letting him slip past that wall
she built so high
to keep guys like him out
the ones that lie
that hurt girls like her
ones that care about everyone
that forgive everyone no matter what
ones that are emotionally scarred
that just scream to be loved
she let him in
despite what her head said
her heart
ripped to pieces
lay on the fround
like usless newspaper
left for some bum
to use as a blanket
tears
fall from her brown eyes
onto the ground
with a soft splash
the pain races through her soul
like the "I told you so's" in her head
sitting in a dark corner
withering away
the world goes on
like nothing ever happened
while
she slips slowly back into her shell
she may never come back out
