Poem about my mother's kitchen. |
| My mother's kitchen is counterfeit. The smell of new tile and appliances overcomes those who enter. It is framed by false wooden cabinetry. The ersatz comfort is blinding like the steel of the refrigerator handle. It does not invite true warmth, even if the oven is running. This is not the kitchen I remember as a child. |
