Life Has No Reason, Rhythm or Rhyme

Free verse inspired by the times when I try to write, and my characters fail to cooperate.

Nothing in life makes sense--
It's a cliché statement that's simple,
Yet frustratingly true.
You dig and you search,
Looking hungrily,
For the light that can lead you on your way.
Only to find another dead end,
More red tape stretched across your path.
Winding endlessly---
Away from you and out of sight,
Into the shadows that lie
Just beyond your reach.
