I heard you tell my story

This is what i heard in recovery from drugs and alcohol, it saved my life...

      Today

I walked into the room that day
I felt scared, and so alone,
You came and introduced yourself
smiled and said welcome home.

I thought I was so different,
that no way would I fit in.
You wouldn't want to know me
once you heard where I had been.

But as I sat there frightened,
stiff and ridged in my chair
I realized in that moment,
that someone truly cared.

So many introduced themselves,
they were smiling and seemed free.
Each tear and every story,
was exactly where I had been.

You spoke of these 12 promises,
based on faith and hope and love.
And you mentioned Higher Power,
who you believed was god above.

I chose to take suggestions,
to keep on coming back.
The step's were what was needed,
if I wanted my life back.
.
Today I'm clean and sober,
fear no longer leads the way.
I am filled with hope and gratitude
and it was done just for today.......
