Delusions and Pain

Read between the lines. Not everything said is face value.

People don’t treat you
the way that they should
I’m sure they would love to
if only they could.

We all have some failings
and can't get a grip.
Try and be perfect
only to slip.

Falling in oceans
of mistakes you can’t avert
all these good intentions
seem only to hurt.

Humans are human
will never be gods
so hard we struggle
but others we’ve trod.

For you to be happy
others must fail.
Can you give up yourself
so they cease to wail?

Such are the choices
humans must make
never really knowing
which path to take.

We hurt the people
we love and cherish.
It can’t be helped
some relationships perish.

But we’ll struggle on
repair damaged bonds
continually injure
those of which we’re fond.

In the end all is clear
but never truly so...
We shall forever be fooled
by the things that we ’Know’.
