Poem about reading the gaze of an animal's eyes |
| Animal Eyes Can you decipher an animal's eyes? Quite often it's just what we surmise They speak such clear and unvocal words Saying things ears need not have heard A dog might ask when we pass out treats "Is there one more bite for me to eat?" Our cat warns our dog with a steady stare "For your own good you won't go there!" After scolding we see in our dog's eyes The deep remorse and it almost cries When we get upset and out of sorts Sometimes with pets we may get short With even tempers they don't understand And with their eyes question our demand If we see and realize we've been harsh If we see, in their eyes, love in their hearts The love in our hearts their eyes detect The rift is mended with no ill effect |
