He spewed his loving words but left me in shame. |
| He came along and made my lonely heart swoon and now my babies should be chirping by June. I haven't seen the rotten old rooster since; just the thought of that scoundrel makes my soul wince. He left with just a note, a mere little scratch and now I sit waiting for my chicks to hatch. He said that he would return to me someday; he had to "find himself," that's all he would say. He told me I had the prettiest of legs, yet, he stared at hens while I tended the eggs. He said 'beauty rest' would leave my face glowing but how could I sleep with incessant crowing? Roosters! They're all the same, a fling and a game; he spewed his loving words but left me in shame. Raising chicks isn't easy and he's too cheap; I've asked for support but haven't heard a peep. Chicks need a Dad to teach them the ways of bugs and encourage their lives and give tender hugs. "You're the only hen for me", that's what he said, but then I saw him chase a Rhode Island Red. 11-11-11-11 aabb ( In case you don't know, a Rhode Island Red is a type of chicken.) |
