Poem - considering where I've been, where she's going |
| Sentiment for a Daughter One day, you’re gonna wake up….and see, that the oldest of the old…is me. You will not be twenty-four anymore, And the person you will see in the mirror is me. One day, you’re going to realize I have not been your enemy; I have just been trying to open your eyes So that you will be all you can be. One day, you’ll seek the history.. that you would rather now deny and wish you could change your story; For I have wished the same, my child. But, that can never be. One day, you will be able to discern the goodness from the bad. And then and only then will you recognize that perfection… is only for the starry eyed. One day as you are living, you will wake up and see that this is the universal lesson given to you and me. Aug 30, 2009 Jean Marie |
