They say a picture is worth a thousand words
But do you think those words are ever really heard
This might sound a bit absurd
Coming from a kid coming from the burbs
I think that all of us need to learn
To look past the face smiling back at her
The face might be hinting at disaster
That’s the kind of message that should be heard
He tried to steal from her
That rat bastard
He’ll get everything he deserves
If you’ve been good then you’ll get yours
And now we’re back to the first
Do you think you could tell all that from a picture
Without any magic elixir
Maybe it got lost inside a whisper
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard this story before
You’re running with the herd
Then you get the word
Now you’re forced to swerve
Riding on the curb
You hear the people slur
Have we seen him before
Pretty soon he will be no more
He was gonna be fine we were all assured
By now my message might seem a bit blurred
And your view from back there might be obscured
But for all this trouble there is a cure
All you have to do is listen to the words
