Dove

Just a quick poem I wrote a few months back..

I once knew a dove
who lived in a soundproof box,

and she told me she was comfortable
but spent her life screaming
“Is anybody out there?”

yesterday I dropped it
and it cracked against the linoleum

the sound of it shattering
was deafening,

but her hoarse screams are unforgettable
