A Friendly Farewell

It’s time to say farewell
The years have travelled fast.
It’s time to say good-bye
And hold onto the past.

Though bonds of our friendship
Have grown so ever tight,
It’s time to let each other go
To follow their own light.

In separate ways that we shall go,
We both shall feel the pain.
In separate things that we shall do,
Our thoughts will be the same.

We’ll think back on our friendship
And of the things we have shared,
We’ll think of all the troubled times
And the times we showed we cared.

Now every time that we get lonely
And begin to miss each other,
There’s a thing that we can hold to,
To stay close to one another.

This thing is all of our memories,
Of which we will never lose,
And of all my fondest memories,
It’s the memories of you I’ll choose.
