Today was the day.

This is a poem about my thirteenth birthday party.

Today was the Day

I woke up early today was a
special day “I'm turning thirteen!”
I shouted as I ran to my mom's room
Today was the day.

Wake up! I told her as I
bounced on her bed laughing
Hurry and get up! I shouted because
Today was the day.

I helped her decorate the
house for the party that's
for me and my friends
Today was the day.

I waited at the door impatiently
to let my friends in with a smile they
sat down my gifts and ran to my room
Today was the day.

We played video games and
ate ice cream and cake and
I opened up my presents
Today was the day.

It was getting dark so I said
good-bye to my friends as one
by one they went home all but one
Today was the day.

He spent the night with me
we had lots of fun with my gifts
A Gamecube, controllers, and 2 games!
Today was the day.

As I fell asleep with my friend
by my side close together, content
I said, "Now I am a teen!"
Today was the day.
