I sometimes wonder what I'm looking for from life these days.

SOMETHING IN ME

Something in me
wanted Jesus --
something in me wanted
God -- Something
in me wanted horses,
cowboys, saddles,
Texas Plains and western
Sod -- Something
in me wanted whales,
wonders, wishes,
romance, tales.

Something in me wanted
travel, wanted
treasure, lit-up stages,
dragons, guitars,
pens and pages,
and it didn’t
matter how.
Today I search
my heart, my dreams,
and stop and start
my plans and schemes.
What can it be, what is
that something -- that
certain something –
in me wanting now?
