A Joyous Farewell

I Will never see him again, I'll make sure of it.

I stared down my reflection
In a freshly rained pond.
I wondered his name,
For in his eyes
I saw somebody else.
It wasn't me...not me.

It was just he and I,
No one said a word.
He looked at me with concern,
And I tried to ignore it,
But I was deeply saddened by the truth.
It was me...yes me.

A pair of tears collided
And started the gentle ripple,
And we looked away,
Never to see each other again.
