This poem is about drug addiction |
| There is an animal caged That nobody wants to see I stay placid and follow orders While the beast devours me He tears me open with his jagged claws Threatening to break free He makes a meal out of my insides And knows every part of me He growls and hisses Like the snake in Eden Telling tricks and lies His teeth are syringes For making poison and sores And every time I fall down He opens yet another trapped door Yes, this animal lives inside of me He never sleeps or rests And though he is a part of me His final wish for me is death |
