Poem taken from my first anthology, Hearts are fragile things aren't they.... |
| This used heart is without a warranty It was once given for nothing, but kept from me They stole it away as it was made of gold Too heavy to carry - all would lose hold This used heart has many dents From bumps in life’s road From those whose grip had slipped Letting it go Despite its appearance - there is still use left But requires careful handling Notwithstanding further theft This used heart is not for lease Nor is it for rent And can no longer be broken Nor its resolve bent Seeking a market for a heart such as mine Is taking what seems....a lifetime to find Highly collectable and going to the right bidder My heart is awaiting....its deserved winner Applebee Copyright 2009 |
