Something I wrote after my boyfriend broke up with me

Selene has taken flight,
On this full moon night,
Where you said your goodbyes
Over e-mail.

When I thought my heart would sail
For the very first time,
You shot it down.
Making the most bitter of sounds.

Isn't it strange?
We never say "goodbye"
In person.

Like a vampire fearing the sun,
The words never stray from my lips
To tell you I'm leaving.
The sounds too painful for my ears to handle.

So without further ado,
My heart has descended back where it belongs
Where the sappiest songs
Make it cry once more.
I finally am going to say it,
Without elongated sighs,
This is where I say my goodbyes.
