| Waiting in the background, in the deep depths of your mind. Searching in the wilderness for a heart I’ve yet to find. I phase without a thought, views of reality wearing thin. Dreaming with all my might of a love I’d die to win. I wish he’d disappear, leaving me to have my say. Letting us be as we should: it is the natural way. I struggle with my conflicts, my friends prying in my head. All around me seem to sense my desire to see him dead. He destroys you every day; I can see it in your eyes. Holding yourself together; a shield as your heart cries. You came to me to pick you up, to heal you when you fell. But instead I find I’m falling, enraptured by your spell. With me you could be happy, your eyes would finally dry. I’d be your magic island; in my warmth is where you’d lie. Or would you rather freeze, venturing near the Midnight Sun? To exist in darkness, trapped by ice, your life undone? No. I need to have you with me, not just inside my head. For if you choose a path with him, you’ll only end it dead. |
