Envious of Earth

Wrote it quickly for a contest.

Superior we stand
Against all earthly creatures
Yet our jelously is grand
For their simplistic, primal features

They can fly, they can swim
But that doesn’t come close
To the awareness within
A single human host

Our ability to conceive
Predict and protest
Makes us believe
That we are the best

This envy we find
Over all that were not
Is our conscious mind
Longing to be forgot

To be anything but us
To not think like this
Would rid all the fuss
True Ignorant bliss

But that gives us no right
For selfish and greed,
Use this insight
and with it take heed;

Respect all the earth
Give humble assistance
As this can give birth
to peaceful co-existance
