a poem concerning marriage breakdown and loss |
| Cut loose in a branchless freedom I lie like a limbless arm The wound severed from the bone I spring and coil like time Abundance in flesh Feeds sorrow for the soul There is no pit to fill this whole Swelling like a tumour Broken as a moth taken like a harpy from her feeding trough I wander limbless Steel shutters shiver, protection is free Sand and stone fill the gap where once was a pillar, a cardiac wrap Put through the tubes pump the stuff through fill with life the heart of a shrew |
