tongues in cheeks
lies in smiles
hearts upturned
deny denial

eyes closed tight
minds closed tighter
love the martyr
loathe the fighter

spitting hymns
at those not 'us'
trembling hands
all fear no fuss

find the courage
look inside
an empty vessel
nought resides
