Lamentation of words.



Oh! I wish that I could write

Just like the poets of old;

Who gripped and gamboled with each word

Till his story was timely told.



Oh! I wish that I could write

Just like the poets of now;

Who twist and tweak each lettered word

To make his story grow.



Oh! I wish that I could write

Just like the poets to come;

They’ll ruffle and ruse each simplistic word

Till poetry has naught become
