Some wounds never really heal....

I took the Band-Aid off today
Because I’d done everything the doctor told me to
I let it air when it needed to
Applied the medicine
Changed the bandages
Used peroxide…

But…

I took the Band-Aid off today

And somehow everything is the same
As the day I was hurt
The stitches have come undone
The antibiotics stopped working
And infection has set in
An infection so dangerous
Medicine can’t begin to cure

I’ve got this gaping wound
That just gets worse everyday
Seeping through every layer
Until it pervades every aspect of my being
And starts affecting every aspect of my life

I took the band aid off today
And finally realized that
this wound is never going to heal
