The seriousness of seven-year olds
on the Saturday soccer fields
slices through the September clouds.
These budding yogis with anarchist leanings,
free-spirited, centered, focused,
patient and relaxed,
smile towards their goal,
not always in the net.

On the sidelines
the soccer moms, stressed-out dads,
etched with now regretted tatoos,
keep the score
and sigh.
