The Breath of Life |
| "Tree love?" Merlin puzzled. "Yes. I love its trunk and sweet goblets of nectar." answered the Witch La Grange; "The grooves in the wood. Fill the hollows with water and my thirst. Have you not noticed that all that trembles sudsides? There stands the overhanging wood with rushing leaves; on a steep mountain, old trees with creeking trunks and holes that moan and whistle. Gentle winds awaken them to deep drones. A strong wind will break them. Cracking, they fall to the forest below." The Witch stepped closer and whispered, "What is this power; that makes things sing through a thousand holes?" Merlin laughed at the sky, "It is the breath of the Dragon!" The Witch looked up and was swallowed by a whirlwind. ~~~ <?> |
