Loving Kindness (Metta) connects all beings.

You Can Love

I can love.

I can tap into the soft spot
that seems so sad sometimes.

I can plant a tree
that grows overnight,

pink and blue blossoms
with sparkling leaves.

Planted just below my sternum,
just above my full belly.

I can love you.  That’s you—
the One reading these words.

I offer to you this wonderful glowing light,
a light of love, right here, right now, as you read.

It’s yours, and I don’t even know
who you are, but I love you.

Here, take this love, swim in it,
swing from a branch with it,

share it with a friend, and if you
really want to know life, to fully experience

the meaning of our existence,
share it with your own worst enemy.
