Praying for my daughter to get better and come home

I hung a cross by your picture today


I bought a magnet shaped like a cross today
I went to put it on the refrigerator alongside all the other pictures
My hand could not steer away from the picture of you
Just a baby wearing a Santa hat, looking so cute and fussy
I paused at that moment and said a silent prayer-a prayer I have had
For many a nights.
The cross is tightly on the paper your precious face is printed on and
For me it protects that distant child you have become in my mind
Though we draw nearer at times you are still detached when I look in your
Eyes.

Let this cross represent the protection I cannot give you and the prayers I send your way.
